Boston College Runs Over Duke, 26-6

Not an encouraging day in Wallace Wade

BC broke open the game against Duke in the third quarter, scoring 16 to move a 7-6 game to 23-6. A fourth quarter field goal pushed the lead to 26-6.

Obviously it’s a disappointing loss but knowing David Cutcliffe, or rather what we see of him publicly, he’ll find the positives and work on the negatives during the week as Duke gets ready for Virginia next weekend.

Clearly the offense needs some work. In two games, Duke has scored 19 points and given up 53.

Chase Brice had 259 passing yards while Deon Jackson had 52 rushing. Mark Gilbert had seven tackles which has to be encouraging as he continues his comeback from a two-year layoff.

Duke thus falls to 0-2 on this curious young season while BC records its first win.

Virginia has not yet played so Duke has a slight advantage when they go up to Charlottesville next Saturday.

Jim will be along after a while with his take.
