NBA fines Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, and Draymond Green for criticizing referees

A few Warriors players have lighter pockets after comments made over the weekend.

Three Golden State Warriors stars have lighter pockets this week, as the league decided to fine Steph Curry, Draymond Green, and Kevin Durant. The fines came in the aftermath of Saturday’s wild overtime loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

In that game, the Warriors took umbrage with three key plays in the final moments. First, Curry was slapped on the Achilles by Josh Okogie while attempting a three-pointer, but no foul was called. Later, with a few seconds left and the team down by three, Durant caught on inbounds pass and rose up for a three, which he made. A foul was called, but deemed before the shooting motion - rather than giving Durant a made bucket and a free throw, the refs simply awarded the Dubs another inbounds.

And then, on the final game of the play, Durant was whistled for a foul as the Wolves inbounded the ball with just 0.5 seconds left and a tied game.

After the game, Durant (fined $15,000) and Curry ($25,000), the Warriors two MVPs, were vocal in their critique, with each referring to a ref as the best player in the game. Both players later took to social media to comment.

Green also took to social media, where he suggested some rigging was at play. In the eyes of the league this was the most egregious error, and cost the three-time All-Star $35,000.

All in all, it’s safe to say the Warriors don’t have many fond memories from Saturday’s contest.
