What to Look for in the Week of Oct. 8 - 14

UC Merced tightened the California Pacific Conference women's soccer race by going on the road and blanking Benedictine-Mesa 1-0 last Thursday.  The Bobcats' Jenn Salinger found the back of the net in the 12th minute, and that was all the scoring the stingy UCM defense needed to pick up its fourth conference win of the season.  The Bobcats moved into a three-way tie for second (12 points), one win in back of No. 11 Embry-Riddle, which is unbeaten in five conference matches.  Soka University of America is still in the hunt for one of the final four postseason slots, and the Lady Lions could make a significant move this Saturday when they host Marymount California--one of the three teams directly in front of them in the standings.
