Danilo Gallinari fractured his hand punching an opponent during Eurobasket
It’s a Clippers tradition.
Danilo Gallinari fractured his hand after punching an opponent during a friendly in preparation for EuroBasket 2017, per Eurohoops.net. He’ll miss the entirety of EuroBasket and might be delayed starting his NBA season, although that’s still up in the air.
This has to be one of the dumbest possible ways for a professional athlete to injure themselves. Here’s a look at the video.

It looks like Gallinari received or thought he received a cheap shot from Jito Kok on the free throw line. He went after him and leveled a decent punch after some shoving back and forth.
It’s funny because Gallinari joined the Los Angeles Clippers this summer, after Blake Griffin missed time in 2016 post-punching a team equipment manager. There’s no word if Gallinari’s injury is that serious, and it seems unlikely that a hand injury would linger until mid-October when the season returns. But if it is serious, it could impact Gallinari heading into training camp.
