Farewell, Tar Black
Yesterday, we collectively said goodbye to one of the hardest working Lakers in recent memory. Our not-so-big big man is now officially onto greener pastures (I hope). Over Tar's 3 year stint with the club, the guy left 100% of himself out on the court every night without fail. While he may not have put up gaudy numbers (or any numbers under Byron), Tar was a clubhouse rock and an instant energy boost on the court. For a young, rebuilding team, that presence will be sorely missed.
It really sucks to see a great dude like Tar, who put so much of himself into helping rebuild and turn a franchise around, get essentially released for cap space. That's the nature of the business though. If you aren't familiar with Tar and his legendary kindness to any and all humans (including the media), check out his 2017 exit interview below, you're gonna be hard pressed to find a better dude than Tar:
On top of Tar's legendary work ethic and being the nicest human on the planet, his name is Tar fucking Black. It doesn't get cooler than that. Just listen to another former Laker, our good friend Swaggy, give his classic "Tar Black Interview":
We lost a great teammate and an even better dude from the squad yesterday. I wish Tar the best of luck, some other team is gonna land a hell of a ball player.
