This year? Next year?

It's been more than a while since I posted on AN, but I've been lurking about, and now it's time to say something. How can the A's say they want to contend when they often sell the team out from under their fans. The Donaldson thing was pure cruelty, no matter who they got for him. Slusser says that the A's won't even try to contend until and unless they get a new stadium---and no one knows when that will be. The A's have a wonderful core of fans, uproariously devoted to the team---drummers in the stands!---incredible! And now they are thinking of trading Sonny Gray---a guy who gives them not only wins, but a personality to build around. How many futures are there out there? What about the present? Don't the 12,000 or so people who come to the Coliseum deserve to see a competent team? So---what to do. This year is already over. I say stay with the mediocrities we have now, do not bring up Barretto and the other guys in the minors---and then bring in all of the young guys next year. A young, exciting team---maybe they won't win---but they will be fun to watch.
