[Women's Cross Country] Northview's Isabelle Luke Signs With The Saints
Isabelle Luke, daughter of Jennifer and Joseph Fitzgerald, has signed her national letter of intent to continue her running career as a Saint. Luke, who preps at Northview High School, has been leading the distance group for the Wildcats cross country and track & field programs the last few seasons.
Isabelle, who is an Academic All-State honoree, is involved in the National Honor Society and is founder and co-editor in chief of her school newspaper. This fall she was named All-OK White and qualified for the DI State Cross Country Championships. She boasts personal bests of 19:22 on the cross course and 5:46 (1600 meters) and 12:23 (3200 meters) on the track. Isabelle has two siblings named Connor and Kathleen.
Luke, who is interested in sociology, history and community leadership, stated, "I chose Aquinas for a number of reasons, one of which being the welcoming environment. Every time that I visited campus I was always struck by how friendly, and accepting everyone was that I met; I could picture myself going to school there. I also chose Aquinas in order to try and further my running career, and see how far it could take me. I love running, so getting the opportunity to pursue it at the next level was a huge bonus when looking at Aquinas."
Coach Mike Wojciakowski commented, "Very few are fortunate enough to go through life having been coached by both "Lil Woj" and "Big Woj" and I hope Isabelle understands how lucky she is (just kidding). Seriously though, I feel like I'm the lucky one in this situation. Isabelle is a fantastic addition to our program and our campus community. She brings so many great qualities to the table and I know she will be successful here. I can't wait to have her join the squad."
