[Baseball] Bobby Mead Earns GSAC Gold Glove
SANTEE, Calif. – When potential base stealers would try to run on SDC catcher Bobby Mead, only 55 percent of them were successful.
Him and his powerful arm nabbed 17 out of 38 runners during the season, and with that, Mead was selected to the 2017 GSAC Gold Glove Team as the catcher.
Mead's Gold Glove is the school's first since Cade Gotta was named to the team as an outfielder in 2014. Gotta currently plays for the Montgomery Biscuits, a AA team for the Tampa Bay Rays.
This was also the first Gold Glove for a catcher in SDC history. Mead finished with a fielding percentage of .992, committing just two errors. He also had 33 assists.
The Hawks finished the season with an 18-23 record and 10-20 conference slate.
