Join SABR's Hoyt-Allen Chapter in Cincinnati to honor Fredrick Waterman, third baseman for the 1868-1870 Cincinnati Red Stockings. In conjunction with the Cincinnati Reds, the Reds Hall of Fame, Wesleyan Cemetery, the Cincinnati Vintage Base Ball Club, and private supporters, a marker has been funded, designed, and installed on Fred’s previously unmarked grave.
The dedication is scheduled for Monday, May 8, from 12:00-1:00 p.m., at Wesleyan Cemetery. We are expecting media coverage in honor of this ‘forgotten’ 19th century player. The ceremony is open to the public and we would love to have a good showing of SABR members, baseball fans and the general public. Please join us if you are able.
The Reds are playing the New York Yankees that evening, and Fred was born in New York.
