Bacone College's sophomore track star Jackson Thomas (Navajo) will receive the Greater Tulsa Indian Art Festival's "Outstanding Student Native American Athlete" award at the Festival's Premiere Night Fundraiser Gala on Feb 10 (RSVP event). The Festival's 2017 Theme is "Honoring Native American Athletes."

Jackson, along with Dane Evans (TU QB), will be signing autographs at the Festival on Saturday, February 11 at noon.
Jackson took top honors in the indoor mile at the 2016 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) National Indoor Track and Field Championships recently. In addition, Thomas has been named a 2016 NAIA Men's Indoor Track & Field All-American.
He was a multiple all-stater in high school, and was part of the national NJCAA Cross Country Team at Central Arizona Community College. He was named NJCAA Cross Country All American in 2014.
Jackson is a member of the Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) Championship Team, and 2016 National NAIA Cross Country Championship. During the ongoing 2017 season, he leads the state out of all colleges (including TU, OSU and OU) for the fastest mile of the season - 4.04. He has been named NAIA National Cross Country Runner of the Week.
