[Baseball] Baseball Holds on to Beat The Master's

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – Vahn Bozian and Steven Pico each homered and Mark Young threw six solid innings as the SDC baseball team defeated The Master's University 7-4 Friday afternoon.

With the win, the Hawks improved to 13-14 on the season and 8-11 in GSAC play. The Mustangs fall to 18-18 on the year and 8-11 in conference.

Bozoian started the game off well for the Hawks with a 2-run homer in the top of the first for his eighth homer of the season.

SDC tallied three runs in the fourth inning starting off with a Brooks Fages RBI single down the line. Austin Yeoman and Justin Hawkins each followed with RBI singles to increase their lead to 5-0.

After the Mustangs scored single runs in the fourth and fifth, Pico drilled a homer to right for his first of the year. It also gave the Hawks enough insurance runs to hang on.

Bozoian and Pico each registered 2 RBIs. Young threw his six innings earning his third win of the year. He allowed just four hits and three walks while striking out nine. Jerry Quemada earned the 3-inning save surrendering five hits and striking out five.

These two teams will be back at it tomorrow with a doubleheader starting at 11 a.m.
