Aaron Nola entered his start on Monday against the Miami Marlins needing a bounce back. Nola allowed a combined 14 earned runs in his last three starts. He blanked the Marlins across six innings in a 1-0 win. The Phillies (15-20) have taken three of four against the Fish in the wrap-around series in Miami.

Nola allowed zero earned runs and walked zero batters in six innings or more for the eighth time in his career and for the first time since June 5, 2024. His outing on Monday lowered his season ERA by nearly a full run from 6.03 to 5.06.

The veteran right-hander was paired with catcher Garrett Stubbs for his outing. Stubbs threw out two baserunners in a game for the first time in his career.

The first two relievers that followed Nola were also outstanding. Tanner Banks worked around an error from shortstop Trea Turner to pitch a scoreless seventh. José Alvarado threw an efficient 1-2-3 eighth, needing only eight pitches to retire the side. It was his first 1-2-3 outing since April 15.

Bryce Harper’s home run in the third inning was the only run scored by the Phillies. Harper went 3-for-4 in the win against Miami. The Phillies lineup combined for seven hits and zero walks. It’s the second time this season the Phillies lineup went without a walk. It’s the first time the Phillies have won a game without walking since Aug. 11, 2025.

Temporary closer Brad Keller allowed a leadoff base hit in the ninth, but induced a crucial 6-4-3 double play against Otto Lopez. Xavier Edwards reached on a base hit with two outs, but he got the next batter Liam Hicks to hit a broken bat ground ball to second for the final out of the game.

Keller will likely slide back into a setup role on Tuesday, as Jhoan Duran is reportedly scheduled to be activated off the injured list prior to the start of the Athletics series.

The Phillies return home winners of six of their last seven games. Cristopher Sánchez gets the start in the opener against the A’s. He will be opposed by right-hander Luis Severino
