WBSC U-23 Men’s Softball World Cup: Mexico rebound with four-inning win; Venezuela with the early lead over Denmark
Welcome to Day 2 at the WBSC U-23 Men's Softball World Cup 2026 in Sincelejo, Colombia. With teams aiming to either build momentum or bounce back, Day 2 is set to play an important role in defining the early outlook of the tournament. In Group B, Mexico rebounded from yesterday’s loss to Australia with a 10-0, four-inning win over Singapore, levelling their record at 1-1. Venezuela is playing Denmark at 20 de Enero stadium.
Day 2 of the Opening Round brings a packed schedule with six matchups set to further shape the group standings across the two venues in Sincelejo.
At Eduardo Porras Stadium, the action gets underway at 13:00 with Singapore vs Mexico. It continues at 16:00 with Australia vs Canada, before Argentina faces Japan at 19:00 in a key matchup featuring two of the tournament’s top contenders.
At 20 de Enero Stadium, the day begins at 14:00 with Venezuela vs Denmark, followed by South Africa vs New Zealand at 17:00. The day wraps up at 20:00 with the host nation Colombia taking on Czechia.
Singapore 0 - 10 Mexico
David Díaz set the tone with a line-drive home run on the third pitch of the game, while Emiliano Solorio added a grand slam in the first to power Mexico to a 10-0 win over Singapore.
Mexico broke the game open early, scoring six runs in the first inning to take full control and cruise to a four-inning victory.
Ángel Valerio earned the win with a one-inning relief appearance, striking out all three batters he faced. José Contreras (six strikeouts), Angel Valerio and Guillermo Valerio (two) combined for 11 strikeouts, allowing just one hit.
Singapore’s only hit came in the second inning, an opposite-field single by catcher Karthikaiyan Raj.
