CARL ALBERT STATE COLLEGE STUDENTS GAIN REAL-WORLD INSIGHT THROUGH VISIT TO LEFLORE COUNTY YOUTH SERVICE CENTER
POTEAU, Okla. — Students from the Carl Albert State College (CASC) Psychology Club and Future Educators Club recently visited the LeFlore County Youth Services Center, where they engaged in an informative and impactful learning experience centered on youth services in the local community.
During the visit, the center’s director and staff provided a comprehensive overview of the programs and resources available to support young people in LeFlore County. The presentation highlighted the organization’s commitment to meeting the needs of at-risk youth and strengthening families through education, intervention, and support services.
For CASC students—many of whom are pursuing degrees in psychology and education—the visit offered a valuable opportunity to connect classroom concepts to real-world application. By interacting directly with professionals in the field, students gained deeper insight into the challenges and rewards of working with youth in community-based settings.
“This experience allowed our students to see firsthand the impact they can have in their future careers,” said a CASC representative. “It reinforced the importance of learning beyond the classroom and helped them better understand how their studies translate into meaningful work in the community.”
The visit serves as a reflection of CASC’s commitment to providing students with hands-on learning opportunities that prepare them for success beyond graduation. Experiences like this not only enhance academic understanding but also inspire students to become engaged, compassionate professionals.
Carl Albert State College is proud to support opportunities that foster lifelong learning and community connection. The college extends its appreciation to the LeFlore County Youth Services Center for its dedication to serving local youth and for providing CASC students with such a meaningful experience.
