Oklahoma City to host next three WBSC U-15 Women’s Softball World Cups
The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) today awarded the hosting rights for the next three editions of the WBSC U-15 Women’s Softball World Cup to USA Softball. The agreement will cover the 2027, 2029 and 2031 editions.
Devon Park in Oklahoma City, the venue selected for the LA28 Olympic Games softball competition, will host all three events, offering a unique opportunity for youth players from around the world to compete on an Olympic stage.
“We are extremely proud to award the hosting rights of the next three U-15 Women’s Softball World Cups to Oklahoma City, securing a world-class venue and an experienced organising committee for our youngest Softball World Cup,” said WBSC President Riccardo Fraccari. “Both the WBSC and USA Softball share a common vision of providing more opportunities for youth players and developing the game globally. This long-term partnership is a perfect match for both organisations.”
"We are incredibly honoured that Devon Park and Oklahoma City has been selected to host the WBSC U-15 Women's Softball World Cup in 2027, 2029 and 2031," said Craig Cress, USA Softball CEO. "Welcoming the world’s top young athletes to the Softball Capital of the World is a privilege we do not take lightly. This opportunity reflects the strength of our facilities, our community, and our commitment to growing the game on a global stage, and we look forward to creating an unforgettable experience for every team, family, and fan who visits Oklahoma City."
The awarding of hosting rights for three consecutive editions of the WBSC U-15 Women’s Softball World Cup to Oklahoma City further strengthens the tournament’s connection to the Olympic Games. The inaugural event in 2023 was played at the Komazawa Olympic Park Sports Complex, a legacy venue of the Tokyo 1964 Olympic Games.
The 2027 edition will serve as a key test event for Oklahoma City ahead of hosting the softball competition at the Olympic Games Los Angeles 2028. The 2029 and 2031 editions will form part of the post-Games legacy plan for Devon Park, further strengthening the venue’s role as a global hub for softball.
The WBSC U-15 Women’s Softball World Cup is the newest and youngest event in WBSC’s softball portfolio, marking the beginning of international careers for future stars of the sport. The inaugural edition was held in October 2023 in Tokyo, Japan, followed by the second edition in Caronno Pertusella and Legnano, Italy, in 2025. The third, fourth and fifth editions will now take place in Oklahoma City.
USA claimed the title in the inaugural edition, defeating Puerto Rico 3-0 in the final. In 2025, Japan captured the world championship, also overcoming Puerto Rico, 4-0, in the final.
Devon Park has hosted some of the world’s largest softball events, including the WBSC U-18 Women's Softball World Cups 2015 and 2025, the WBSC Men's Softball World Cup Group C in 2024, the NCAA Women’s College World Series (WCWS), the International Cup, Border Battle and various USA Softball National Championships across all age-divisions.
Following five phases of renovations, the complex now includes four fields – including the legendary OGE Energy Field at Devon Park, which recently received a $27.5 million facelift with an added upper deck that increased capacity by 4,000 seats to 13,000, a three-story press box as well as upgraded ticket windows and complex entrances.
