Sinaloa wins Baseball5 National Tournament in Piedras Negras
Sinaloa won the Juvenil Menor (U-14) and Juvenil Mayor (U-18) categories of the fourth Mexican Baseball5 National Tournament in Piedras Negras, Coahuila. The event involved 400 athletes representing the States of Sinaloa, Coahuila, Hidalgo, and Chihuahua, as well as the Mexico City Metropolitan Area.
Alfredo Lerma, President of the Sinaloa Softball and Baseball5 Association, commented: "We did well. This success demonstrates how good our development programme is."
The tournament served as a preparation for the National Commission of Sports and Culture (CONADE) Olympics, which will open on Thursday, April 16, in Tepic, Nayarit.
During the opening ceremony, the Mayor of Piedras Negras, Jacobo Rodriguez, announced that the city would name the two Baseball5 fields after Cruz Rolando Guerrero Castilla, the Mexican Softball and Baseball5 Federation President.
"We want to honour him as the man who pioneered Baseball5 in Mexico," said Rodriguez.
