Report: Mets To Promote Veteran Outfielder Tommy Pham
According to Will Sammon of the Athletic, the New York Mets are calling up veteran outfielder Tommy Pham. Pham was signed to a minor-league deal back on Opening Day.
Pham has been on assignment with Single-A St. Lucie. Across five games he’s 2-for-12 (.167 average) with three strikeouts and three walks. Pham, notably, had a hit and run scored against Toronto Blue Jays’ pitcher Trey Yesavage who was on rehab for Toronto.
Pham is a 12-year MLB veteran. He owns a career .766 OPS and has always posted above average walk rates (11.2% compared to a 8.3% league average).
Pham notably played for the Mets in 2023 where he posted an extremely solid .820 OPS. He was moved at the trade deadline in exchange for infielder prospect Jeremy Rodriguez. Rodriguez, 19, is on the injured list to begin 2026. He had a .540 OPS across 420 at-bats for Single-A St. Lucie.
In 2025, he slashed .245/.330/.370 (.700 OPS) for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He played in 120 games spanning 392 at-bats. Pham spent 115 of the 117 games played in the field in left.
Pham adds to a crowded Mets outfield. A corresponding move has yet to be announced.
