Kane County stay undfeated, four teams in contention for Baseball Champions League Final
The Kane County Cougars stay on top of the 2026 Baseball Champions League undefeated. The American Association's champions shut out Matanzas Cocodrilos (Cuba's Serie Nacional), 9-0, to open Day 4 of round-robin play. The Mexico City Diablos Rojos (Mexican Baseball League, LMB) outscored the CTBC Brothers (Chinese Professional Baseball League, CPBL), 12-4, to celebrate their second win.
Four teams are still in contention for a spot in the Championship Game, scheduled for Sunday, March 29.
On Day 5, Kane County would automatically advance to the final with a win, but if the Managua Dantos (Nicaraguan Pomares League; Day 4 was their rest day) defeated the North Americans, they would open the door to a potential three-way tie for second place with the Diablos Rojos. At the same time, if Matanzas defeated Mexico City on the final day of group play, a three-way tie with Dantos would become a possibility.
The Standings
Cougars-Cocodrilos
Three pitchers limited the Matanzas Cocodrilos to five hits, while striking out eleven and allowing no walks, leading the Kane County Cougars to the first shut-out win in the tournament. Brando Komar struck out five over five innings and earned the win. Denny Larrondo added three scoreless innings, and Derrik Cherry struck out the side in the ninth.
Starter Brander Guerava kept Matanzas in the game for three innings. Kane County took the lead in the top of the second when the Cocodrilos failed to execute an inning-ending double play and allowed the second run on a wild pitch. They broke the score open in the top of the fourth with a seven-run rally capped by two home runs against reliever Rafael Perdomo. Centre fielder Armond Upshaw hit a three-run homer, and first baseman Todd Lott added a two-run shot.

Diablos Rojos-Brothers 12-4
The hosts Diablos Rojos had 15 hits, including three home runs, and dominated six CTBC Brothers pitchers, cruising to their second win.
After the Brothers took the lead in the bottom of the first with back-to-back doubles by centre fielder Chun-Lin Huang and first baseman Shao-Yu Hsu off starter Ricardo Pinto, the Diablos Rojos took the lead in the top of the second on catcher Francisco Mejia's RBI double and a two-run homer by first baseman Rio Ruiz.
Designated hitter Jon Singleton went 4-for-6 for the Diablos Rojos, with a home run and four RBIs. Left fielder Bryan Gonzalez went 3-for-5 with a home run.
The Brothers never got back into the game. Jui-Chun Lin and Wei-Ta Su added a pair of solo homers.
