Mike Tauchman Exits Game With Left Knee Injury

0 1

Mike Tauchman left Saturday’s spring training game in the fifth inning with left knee soreness.

Tauchman took one at-bat against the Astros and grounded out. He appeared injured when running out the groundball, but remained in the game. When running back out on defense in the fifth inning, Tauchman started hobbling, then went back to the dugout. He was replaced by AJ Salgado.

The injury to Tauchman comes right before the Mets break camp to begin the regular season. The 35-year-old was having an impressive spring, slashing .250/.382/.464 with four extra base hits entering Saturday’s game.

Tauchman was in a competition with Carson Benge for the final roster spot in spring training.
