Morning Briefing: Stearns Still Optimistic About Lindor’s Return
Good morning, Mets fans!
MMO’s Brandyn Pokrass continued his excellent spring training coverage with notes from David Stearns’ and David Wright‘s media availability.
In the press conference, Wright spoke about how he is enjoying the enthusiasm the team is showing right now. He was also excited to hear from Bo Bichette and his request to speak with Wright during spring training.
Stearns reiterated that he is optimistic that Francisco Lindor will be available for Opening Day. He said that a decision regarding Carson Benge is still pending, but he has liked what he has seen to this point. Stearns added that he is judging the team as a “focused group,” saying that it is interesting to see a team full of veterans go to work every day.

Dominican Republic 10, Israel 1 — Juan Soto finished 0-for-4 with a walk as the Dominican Republic moved to 3-0. They will face off against Venezuela in a highly anticipated matchup on Wednesday.
Venezuela 4, Nicaragua 0 — Mark Vientos went 1 -or-4 in his final appearance for Nicaragua, which finished pool play 0-4. He will be back with the Mets in Port St. Lucie in the coming days.
USA 5, Mexico 3 — Alex Carrillo pitched a scoreless fourth inning for Mexico, with strikeouts of Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber.
Puerto Rico 4, Cuba 1 — MJ Melendez went 0-for-2 with two walks and a run scored in Puerto Rico’s win.
