WBSC strengthens Integrity Framework with publication of two landmark policies
The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) is proud to announce the publication of two cornerstone documents reinforcing its global commitment to ethics, fairness, and transparency - the WBSC Human Rights Policy and the WBSC Anti-Corruption Policy.
As part of the broader WBSC Integrity Code, these policies set a new benchmark for good governance and responsible conduct across the world of baseball/softball, aligning the WBSC with internationally recognised standards and reinforcing the sport’s social impact around the globe.
“These policies reflect the core values of the WBSC and reinforce our duty to protect participants, promote fairness, and uphold the highest ethical standards in all that we do,” said WBSC President Riccardo Fraccari. “By embracing human rights and combating corruption, we’re advancing a culture of trust and respect that benefits the entire baseball/softball community.”
The newly released Human Rights Policy — effective as of 21 January 2026 — articulates the WBSC’s commitment to respecting and protecting internationally recognised human rights in every aspect of its operations and influence. Anchored in global frameworks such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the policy:
- Affirms the WBSC’s position against discrimination of all forms, ensuring inclusion, diversity, and gender equality are embedded throughout the sport.
- Commits to safeguarding athletes, staff, volunteers, participants and fans from harassment, abuse, and unsafe environments.
- Outlines expectations for Member Federations, event organisers and partners to uphold human rights in line with the policy’s principles.
- Highlights the WBSC’s role in promoting athlete well-being, labour rights, and safety at events, integrating human rights into its strategic and operational frameworks.
Meanwhile, the Anti-Corruption Policy — also in force from 21 January 2026 — sets out WBSC’s uncompromising stance against corruption in sport.
Designed to combat abuse of entrusted power and unethical behaviour, the policy:
- Defines a broad scope of corrupt practices – from bribery and collusion to extortion and fraud.
- Applies to all WBSC Parties, including Member Federations, officials, competition participants, event organizers and third parties.
- Prohibits corruption in every form and reinforces a culture of transparency, accountability and ethical conduct within baseball/softball communities worldwide.
- Outlines mechanisms for prevention, reporting and management of corruption risks, supported by confidential reporting tools and education.
- Reaffirms that violations will be handled seriously under applicable disciplinary and legal frameworks.
