Buenos Aires hosts International U-10 Baseball Summer Championship
From 8 to 11 January, Buenos Aires hosted the V Summer Championship U-10, featuring 11 teams from Argentina, Brazil, and Chile. The tournament was organised by Club Atletico Velez Sarsfield and sanctioned by the Argentine Baseball Federation.
A total of 146 young athletes took part in the competition, with six teams from Argentina, four from Brazil, and one from Chile. Among the participants was Brazil Girls, an all-girls team composed of the country’s top female players, who finished in eighth place.
The tournament opened with a group stage, divided into two groups, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semifinals. Maringa Verde (Brazil) and Popeye (Argentina) topped their respective groups. In the semifinals, however, Popeye was defeated by Nikkey Curitiba (Brazil), setting up an all-Brazilian final.
In the championship game, Maringa Verde proved too strong for their opponents, defeating Nikkey Curitiba 11–1 to claim the title. The Brazilian team successfully defended their championship, having also won the previous edition in 2024.
Jeremias Aires was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) after delivering a standout performance in the final, including a grand slam in the first inning and two scoreless innings pitched to close the game. Vinicius Cardoso, the tournament’s best hitter, drove in three runs in the final.
