Copa de Campeones to open Puerto Rico Double-A League 2026 season
The Baseball Federation of Puerto Rico (FBPR) announced that the Superior Double-A season will open with the Copa de Campeones (Champions Cup) from Friday, January 16, to Sunday, January 25 with the defending champions, Juncos Mulos, hosting the preseason tournament at the Mariano Niní Meaux Stadium where they will face the runner-up, Patillas Leones, in the opening game.
All the 2025 Division Champions, Plata de Comerio Pescadores, Salinas Peces Voladores, San Sebastian Patrulleros, Dorado Guardianes, Camuy Arenosos and Peñuelas Petroleros, will participate in the double-elimination tournament format.
On February 1, the Mulos will host Las Piedras Artesanos for the Superior Double-A League Opening Day. Tickets are available online.
The remaining 43 teams will open their seasons on February 6.
The regular season will run through April 19. The first round of the postseason, best-of-five Division semifinals and best-of-seven Division finals, will determine the participants in the eight-team Carnival of Champions (Carnaval de Campeones), and the top four finishers in the Carnival of Champions will compete in the best-of-seven semifinals. The winners will play for the pennant in the best-of-seven final series.
FBPR announced that the Perucho Cepeda de Cataño Stadium will host the All-Star Game on April 25. The event will include the Game of Legends, featuring prominent former Double-A stars.
The 2026 Double-A season has also been dedicated, the FBPR announced, to historian, scorer and sports commentator Juan de Jesús, a Juncos native.
