Mets Interview Troy Snitker for Hitting Coach Role

0 11

The New York Post reports the New York Mets have interviewed Troy Snitker for a hitting coach position. Earlier this month, the Mets promoted Jeff Albert from running their minor league hitting program to a new role in the organization, director of major league hitting. It’s expected that the Mets would hire at least one hitting coach to work with Albert.

Sherman reports the Tigers might also have interest in Snitker for a hitting coach role.

Snitker, the son of former Braves manager Brian Snitker, was recently fired by the Astros as part of a coaching purge, similar to what the Mets did earlier this offseason. In 2025, the Astros ranked 21st in runs scored, tied for 16th in homers, tied for 14th in OPS and 23rd in batting average with runners in scoring position.

The 36-year-old former minor leaguer had been a hitting coach for the Astros at the major league level since the 2019 season and was part of the 2022 World Series champs.

Snitker began his pro coaching career in 2016 as the Astros’ rehab hitting coordinator. In 2017, he was the hitting coach for Single-A Buies Creek Astros and was then promoted to Double-A Corpus Christi for the 2018 season. Albert was in the Astros minor league coaching system as a coordinator for all three years that Snitker was there.
