Argentina win historic U-18 Men’s Softball Pan American title; Qualify with Mexico, Canada and Venezuela for 2027 World Cup
A one-hit, complete-game performance by pitcher Cristian Orsi powered Argentina to victory, giving the South Americans their first-ever U-18 Men’s Softball Pan American title. Canada claimed the bronze medal with a 7-6 win over Venezuela. All four teams — Argentina, Mexico, Canada and Venezuela — have qualified for the WBSC U-18 Men’s Softball World Cup 2027.
The tournament featured six teams. Peru defeated Guatemala, 5-4, to finish in fifth place.
Argentina’s ace Orsi pitched seven dominant innings in the final, striking out 10 batters and allowing only one hit with no walks. It was his fourth win of the tournament, during which he threw 21.2 scoreless innings. He recorded 42 strikeouts overall and limited opponents to a .061 batting average.
In the bronze medal game, Canada staged an impressive comeback after trailing Venezuela 6-0 through three innings. Kian Poitras drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh to drive in the winning run. William Singer, who started in the circle for Canada, led the comeback with five RBIs, including a three-run home run.
Argentina, Mexico, Canada and Venezuela are the first nations to qualify for the WBSC U-18 Men’s Softball World Cup 2027. The host and dates of the event will be announced at a later stage.
