Mets Coach Glenn Sherlock Retiring
Andy Martino of SNY reports that Mets coach Glenn Sherlock is retiring. Sherlock spent the last four seasons as the Mets’ catching coach. He also served as the Mets’ bench coach under Buck Showalter in 2022. This was Sherlock’s second stint with the Mets.
Sherlock was the Mets’ third base coach for the 2017 and 2018 seasons before moving across the diamond to be the first base coach in 2019. Between his stints with the Mets, Sherlock served as a coach with the Pirates.
Before joining the Mets organization, Sherlock spent 19 years with the Diamondbacks in various roles. He began coaching in the Yankees system in 1990 after retiring from playing in the Bronx Bombers’ minor league system the year before.
Sherlock’s retirement marks the first of an expected flurry of coaching moves within the Mets organization, following a disappointing 83-79 season that led to the team missing the playoffs. The one person we know that’s safe is manager Carlos Mendoza.
