Blind Baseball debuts in Taiwan
Chinese Taipei has joined the Blind Baseball global movement, officially launching a programme and setting its sights on the 3rd WBSC Blind Baseball International Cup.
On 14 September, Chinese Taipei held its first-ever training session, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the sport in the region.
The project was first conceived in 2024, when the Chinese Taipei Baseball and Softball Association for the Disabled (CTBSAD) travelled to the United Kingdom to attend the WBSC Blind Baseball International Cup 2024. That milestone paved the way for Chinese Taipei’s integration into the global Blind Baseball community, creating new sporting opportunities for athletes with visual impairments.
With the third edition of the WBSC Blind Baseball International Cup taking place next year, the CTBSAD has set ambitious goals, vowing to showcase the talents of its athletes and ensure that players “who cannot see” will be “seen” on the baseball field.
Invented by the Italian Association of Baseball for the Blind (AIBXC), Blind Baseball is a dynamic and fast-paced team sport designed to help athletes improve their autonomy, mobility and inclusion.
Cuba won the second edition of the WBSC Blind Baseball International Cup in 2024, which featured eight teams across Asia, the Americas and Europe.
