Coleman Borthwick is the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup MVP
USA two-way phenom Coleman Borthwik is the MVP of the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup 2025 presented by RAXUS.
Born in April 2008, Borthwick started five games at first base, one at DH and was the USA starting pitcher twice, including the World Championship Final.
"I feel great," he said after the Awarding Ceremony, "but this award is not just about me. It's about five or six players who were all good. We did it as a team. Still, I feel great about it."
Borthwick will graduate from High School and has already committed to Auburn University.
"I have committed just in case going with the pros doesn't work out, but my plan is making it to the Big Leagues."
During the Closing Ceremony, the WBSC revealed the XXXII U-18 Baseball World Cup All-World Team. The selection features four players from the USA, two from Panama and Chinese Taipei, one from Korea, and one from Japan.
Giovanni Rojas (USA) is the best pitcher. His teammate Will Brick is the All-World Team catcher.
The infield has Sheng-En Zen (Chinese Taipei) at first, Ryota Okumura (Japan) at second, Grady Emerson (USA) at third and Aiden Ruiz (USA) at shortstop.
The three outfielders are Korea's Jiho Park, Luis Rivera (Panama) and Kai-Qi Li (Chinese Taipei).
Panama's Carlos Castillo is the designated hitter.
The WBSC also announced the other Individual Awards.
Ashton Kennedy (Australia) had the best batting average (.444).
Edenis Cruz (Cuba) won the best earned run average (ERA). He didn't allow a run in 16 innings pitched.
Japan's Daito Nakano had the best win-loss ratio with a 3-0 record and 7.2 innings pitched.
Australia's Josh Nati led in runs batted in (RBIs) with 12.
Among the players with one home run, Takumu Imaoka (Japan) won the award for doing it in 10 at-bats.
Hyuma Okabe (Japan) led in stolen bases with seven.
Cuba's Jonathan Moreno led in runs scored with nine.
Jonathan Moreno also earned the Outstanding Defensive Player award.

On behalf of President Fraccari, WBSC Executive Vice President - Baseball Jeffrey Joo declared the XXXII WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup closd.
"As we come together here in Okinawa for the closing of the 32nd WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup presented by Raxus, we celebrate not only the champions who will lift the trophy tonight, but also every single team, player, coach, official and supporter who has made this tournament unforgettable," he said.
"For some of you, this was your first step on the international stage; for others, it will be the beginning of great careers. But all of you have left your mark on this tournament and on the future of our sport," Koo added..
"Congratulations to our champions" he said on a final note, "and congratulations to all who have been part of this remarkable journey. We now look ahead with pride and optimism, knowing that the future of international baseball is in great hands."
