Cuba, Venezuela, earn tickets to WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup

Cuba and Venezuela have secured their tickets to the WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup 2026 as winners of the Caribbean and South American qualifiers, respectively.

The final of the three Americas qualifiers — corresponding to Central and North America — will begin on 13 September in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, with Costa Rica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama and USA competing for the one remaining direct spot.

In the South American Qualifier, Venezuela dominated the competition, sweeping all five games. They defeated Colombia (3-2), Brazil (3-2), Peru (4-1) and Ecuador (5-0), who finished the standings in second to fifth place, respectively.

In the Caribbean Qualifier, Cuba clinched first place with a decisive 13-8 victory over Aruba on the final day. Cristian Aguilera powered the offence, going 3-for-4 with three runs and three RBIs, while Angelo Fleitas added a 1-for-2 performance with a run scored, three RBIs and two walks. Cuba closed the event with a 4-2 record.

The Dominican Republic edged Puerto Rico, 4-3, in their final game, but despite tying Cuba in the standings, the tiebreaker system awarded the World Cup spot to the Cubans.

The fourth Americas berth will be decided by the best second-place finisher across the three regional qualifiers.
