Alice Lloyd College Assists Mission of Hope with School Supply Delivery
On Friday, August 29, members of the Alice Lloyd College administrative team traveled to Lone Jack Elementary to assist Mission of Hope with the delivery of school supplies for students in kindergarten through eighth grade.
Alice Lloyd College and Mission of Hope have enjoyed a decades-long partnership rooted in a shared commitment to strengthening communities across Appalachia. Mission of Hope has generously supported the College and its students over the years through scholarships as well as donations of clothing, food, and other items. This project provided an opportunity for ALC to return that support by joining in their efforts to serve families in the region.
“We are deeply grateful for our relationship with Mission of Hope,” said Dr. Allison Holbrook Southard, VP for Advancement. “They have been wonderful friends of the College for so many years, and it was a blessing to work alongside them to serve young people who might one day, be here walking along the Purpose Road.”
The delivery included backpacks, essential school supplies, and hygiene items to help ensure that every student the school year with the tools they need to succeed. By supporting both higher education and local schools, ALC and Mission of Hope remain united in their commitment to improving lives throughout Appalachia.
With 83 percent of ALC graduates returning to live and work in Central Appalachia, the College remains dedicated to equipping students not only for personal success, but also to uplift entire communities for generations to come.
