0 6

Jacob Reimer hit his seventh home run of the season in a Binghamton win, Luisangel Acuña was injured on a collision at first base in a Syracuse loss, John Bay notched four hits in a St. Lucie extra-innings loss, and Franklin Gomez struck out seven, but the Cyclones still lost.

Triple-A

Double-A

Binghamton Rumble Ponies (76-38) 4, Portland Sea Dogs (55-58) 1

BOX SCORE

  • LF A.J. Ewing – 2-for-5, 2 2B, 1 R, 1 RBI (2) (.687 OPS)
  • CF Nick Morabito – 2-for-4, 1 RBI (50), SB (37) (.770 OPS)
  • DH Jacob Reimer – 1-for-2, 1 R, HR (7), 2 RBI (25), 1 BB (.801 OPS)

All Jacob Reimer does is hit, cracking his seventh home run for the Rumble Ponies and showing much improved plate discipline in August, walking eight times to ten strikeouts. Every Binghamton player reached base at least once on Wednesday. Reimer and Ewing both recently cracked ESPN’s top-100 prospects list.

  • RHP R.J. Gordon (3.29 ERA) 7 IP, 2 H, 2 BB, 7 K (58 of 89 pitches for strikes)

R.J. Gordon has been very strong in August, with a 2.19 ERA on the month, striking out 25 batters over 24 2/3 innings.

High-A

Brooklyn Cyclones (67-49) 6, Aberdeen IronBirds (47-67) 7

BOX SCORE

  • 1B Trace Willhoite – 1-for-3, 1 R, HR (2), RBI (6), SB (1), 1 BB, 2 K (1.121 OPS)

Cristofer Gomez is having a rough August, allowing ten runs in seven and one-third innings with seven walks. Hunter Hodges struck out two in his 1 1/3 innings of work.

Low-A

St. Lucie Mets (68-47) 9, Palm Beach Cardinals (56-58 ) 11, 10 INNINGS

Box Score

  • CF Yonatan Henriquez – 2 for 5, 3 R, HR (8), 1 RBI (47) (.738 OPS)

John Bay has exceeded expectations, putting up great hitting numbers as an undrafted free agent. Yonatan Henriquez has been a different player in August, possibly pushing himself into the back-end of Mets prospects lists with his speed and utility profile.

  • RHP Layonel Ovalles (1.66 ERA) 2 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 1 K
  • RHP Yuhi Sako (7.71 ERA) 1/3 IP, 1 H, 2 R (1 ER), 1 HR allowed

Every St. Lucie pitcher today allowed at least one run. Jonathan Jimenez walked four batters in his two innings of work.
