Mets Minors Game Chat: Sproat Takes the Mound for Syracuse
The Mets’ minor league teams look ready to kick off a full slate of games with the big league team getting a much-needed travel day. Brandon Sproat, Metsmerized’s No. 5 Mets’ prospect, gets the ball for Syracuse after being named International League Pitcher of the Month for July. Sproat, 24, went 2-0, striking out 33 batters and walking only eight in his five starts. He looks to continue his string of success against the White Sox’s Triple-A affiliate, the Charlotte Knights.

Franklin Gomez make his second High-A appearance for Brooklyn, this time against the Yankees’ High-A affiliate. He struggled in his first outing, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits in just under four innings of work. However, he worked to a 1.85 ERA in 14 games (seven starts) with the St. Lucie Mets earlier this year.
