Logan Gilbert looks to continue his T-Mobile Park dominance in an attempt for the Seattle Mariners to get a recently-rare August 1st win.

The Seattle Mariners will look to RHP Logan Gilbert to lead them to a game two win at home against the Texas Rangers. So far at T-Mobile Park this season Logan Gilbert has performed well, with a 1.94 ERA, 62 strikeouts, and only 8 walks across eight starts (41.2 IP), but is looking to bounce back after a relatively rougher outing in Anaheim where he lasted 5.0 IP, but allowed four earned runs on three hits and three walks. Climbing the mountain for the Rangers will be Jack Leiter, who has less shiny season stats than the resident LoGi, but is coming off the back of two six innings start, his last against Atlanta where he allowed only one earned run on two hits.

Lineups:

Randy Arozarena settles into his new-to-the-Mariners leadoff role for the second night, with the expected names both new and old to follow, also in the same order as yesterday. Cal and Julio provide the setup for Josh Naylor in the cleanup role, and Geno behind him. Polanco moves to the six slot in his more typical DH role, and Canzone, Crawford and Young round it out with the 7-8-9. Cole Young hit a roughly 470 foot home run last night and hit a triple, and he is batting ninth. In case you need context for how good of a Mariners lineup this is.

@Rangers

Rowdy Tellez gets another revenge start at first base against his former team today, but no Sam Haggerty in a starting role like yesterday, so we might not get to see all of our old friends play. Jonah Heim takes on catching duties today.

News:

The Seattle Mariners have swapped bullpen arms on the roster, moving Trent Thornton the 15-day IL with a torn Achilles and recalling Jackson Kowar from Triple-A Tacoma.

Also of note in regards to pitching in the coming series, the Texas Rangers are re-ordering their starting pitcher rotation, slotting in new trade deadline acquisition RHP Merrill Kelly into tomorrow’s game against scheduled Mariner pitcher RHP Luis Castillo. RHP Jacob deGrom moves to Sunday’s game for Texas, which should be RHP Logan Evans turn in the rotation for Seattle.

On the contrary end of the injury news, Bryce Miller is set to make a rehab start tonight, for Triple-A Tacoma playing at Sugar Land, first pitch set for 5:05 PM PT. Ryan Bliss is also reportedly with the club today, and has been spotted doing sprints in the field with Victor Robles.

Ryan Bliss and Victor Robles are running sprints on the field together and Victor is being entirely normal and non dramatic about it as you’d expect
