The South Siders look to start their road trip on a positive note

The White Sox (40-69) are looking to get off to a strong start against the Angels (53-56) in Anaheim.

All-Star starting pitcher Shane Smith, 25, will start on the mound for the South Siders. Smith enters this game with a 4.26 ERA, a 4.20 FIP, and 1.2 fWAR in 86 23 innings. This will be Smith’s first appearance since July 11, as he suffered a sprained ankle shortly after that start. Before the injury, Smith had made three starts in July, and it was a rough month for him, posting a 9.75 ERA and a 6.76 FIP in 12 innings. However, overall, it has been a solid season, and the White Sox have certainly gotten more production from Smith than they expected.

Left-handed pitcher Tyler Anderson, 35, will start for the Angels. This season, Anderson has a 4.41 ERA and a 5.11 FIP, resulting in 0.5 fWAR in 112 13 innings. Anderson has made four starts against the White Sox in his career, and the South Siders have performed well against him. Anderson has posted a 8.50 ERA in those four starts, with the White Sox posting a .268/.354/.423 slash line against him.

Here are tonight’s starting lineups:

This afternoon, the White Sox made the following announcement:

The first pitch is scheduled to happen at 8:38 p.m. Central, and as usual, CHSN and WMVP 1000 AM will cover the game.
