The MLB Draft starts tonight and the Mariners hold the #3 overall pick

It’s finally here: the 2025 MLB Draft has been something we’ve all been looking forward to here since the Seattle Mariners logo was revealed during the draft lottery at the #3 overall pick. Even with the concerns that this draft is a weaker class than usual at the top, third overall is the highest the Mariners have ever picked during the Jerry Dipoto era, and they have the second-largest bonus pool in the class, ensuring they’ll have plenty of money to spread around while making their picks.

In front of the Mariners, the Washington Nationals hold the first overall pick in the draft. The division rival Angels pick one ahead of the Mariners, who have four total top-100 selections. The A’s and Rangers have back-to-back picks at 11 and 12, and the Astros pick 21st. The Angels have a compensation pick at 101, but other than that no other team from the AL West other than the Mariners has a bonus pick in the top 100.

We’ll be writing each of those picks up for you—individual articles for the first five or so picks (or until we run out of juicy information on a player) and then grouping the later-round picks together in a couple of articles, as well as maintaining a draft tracker here with all the day’s picks. We’ll also be putting out postdraft reaction podcasts as well as other analysis, so check back often (and don’t forget to subscribe to the Meet at the Mitt podcast, if you don’t already).
