Mets Minors Recap: Jett Williams Cracks Two Homers
Top prospect Jett Williams hit two solo homers, singled, and stole a base Friday for Double-A Binghamton. The 21-year-old, selected in the first round (14th overall) of the 2022 draft out of Rockwell-Heath (Texas) High School, is flourishing this year after missing much of 2024 due to injury.
Binghamton was forced to make do without pitcher Jonah Tong and outfielder Carson Benge. The pair were placed on the temporary inactive list so they could travel to the annual Futures Game, a National League vs. American League contest featuring top prospects that takes place Saturday at Truist Park in Atlanta as part of All-Star Weekend.

Santucci retired the first 13 batters he faced in his Rumble Ponies debut. He went 5-4 with a 3.46 ERA and 75 strikeouts in 67 2/3 innings pitched for High-A Brooklyn before he was promoted. The Mets selected Santucci in the second round of last year’s draft out of Duke.
High-A
Wilmington Blue Rocks (39-45) 2, Brooklyn Cyclones (56-29) 1
- SS Boston Baro, 3-for-3, 3B, R (.619 OPS)

- RHP Josh Blum (0.00 ERA) 3 IP, H, 3 K
Brewer, 24, has four strikeouts in 8 2/3 innings pitched since being promoted to Brooklyn. His older brother Colten pitched for four MLB teams, most recently with the Cubs last year. Blum, 22, a 16th-round pick out of USC last year, was making his second appearance for Brooklyn after fanning 32 in 31 1/3 innings for St. Lucie.
Low-A
St. Lucie Mets (46-37) 5, Bradenton Marauders (40-44) 2
- 1B Vincent Perozo, 3-for-4, HR (2), 2B, 2 RBI (22) (.729 OPS)

- DH Trace Willhoite, 2-for-5, R, 2 K (.855 OPS)
Perozo, 22, of Venezuela, had a .510 OPS last season in 271 plate appearances for St. Lucie. He passed his 2024 RBI total (21) with his two RBIs in nearly 100 fewer PAs (178).
- LHP Franklin Gomez (2.27 ERA) 4.2 IP, H, 3 BB, 5 K
Gomez, 20, of Venezuela, has dropped his ERA significantly since last year when it was 4.28 over 82 innings for St. Lucie.
Rookie Ball Florida Complex League
FCL Nationals (25-20) 2, FCL Mets (20-24) 1, Suspended Top 5
- C Julio Zayas, 1-for-2, 2B, K (.774 OPS)
- CF Edward Lantigua, 0-for-1, BB, CS (7) (.731 OPS)
- DH Daniel Silva, 2-for-2 (.670 OPS)
Zayas is 7-for-18 with two doubles this month. Lightning suspended the game in the top of the fifth.
- RHP Jonathan Jimenez (4.13 ERA) 4 IP, 5 H, 2 R, BB, 3 K
The runs scored on Jimenez were unearned. He has gone four starts (15 IP) without giving up an earned run. The 21-year-old Venezuelan has struck out 16 and walked two in that span.
Dominican Summer League
DSL Arizona Red (17-12) 1, DSL Mets Orange (18-10) 2, 8 innings
- 2B Elian Peña, 0-for-3, BB, K (.770 OPS)
- LF Heriberto Rincon, 1-for-4, 2B, 2 RBI (9) (.802 OPS)
- SS Yunior Amparo, 0-for-3, R, K (1.110 OPS)
Peña came up with the bases loaded, one out, and Mets Orange down 1-0 in the bottom of the eighth. (DSL games are seven innings, so they were in extra innings.) Peña struck out swinging, but Rincon followed with a walk-off, two-run double.
- LHP Luis Sotillo (2.84 ERA) 3 IP, H, 2 BB, 2 K
- RHP Julio Gonzalez (2.08 ERA) 2 IP, 2 BB, 2 K
- LHP Pablo Medina (3.52 ERA) 2 IP, R, 2 K, W
Mets Orange pitchers held Arizona to one hit. Sotillo (19 IP, 10 strikeouts) has thrown scoreless outings in three of his six starts.
DSL Mets Blue (14-15) 12, DSL Colorado (11-18) 10, 10 innings
- 2B Yorber Semprun, 5-for-7, 2 RBI (14), 2 R, K (1.065 OPS)
- 3B Yensi Rivas, 4-for-6, R, K (.733 OPS)
- C Cesar Acosta, 3-for-4, 2 RBI (10), R, 2 BB, K (.872 OPS)
Semprun, 17, is 10-for-16 in his last three games. Mets Blue scored 12 runs on 17 hits without recording an extra-base hit, which I found kind of astonishing. (So I looked it up and the record for most runs without an XBH in MLB is 16 by the Royals in a win over the Blue Jays on Aug. 6, 1979.)
- RHP Jose Vielma (1.17 ERA) 2 1/3 IP, 2 H, ER, 2 K
