Luisangel Acuña to Rejoin Mets
After about three weeks at Triple-A Syracuse, Luisangel Acuña is coming back to the Mets, Jon Heyman of the New York Post and MLB Network reported Thursday.
Acuña went 13-for-45 and slashed .289/.346/.378 with two doubles and a triple for Syracuse over a dozen games. He was hitting .241/.293/.283 with no homers, six RBIs and 29 strikeouts in 158 major league plate appearances when he was sent down. He was 11-for-12 stealing bases.
Acuña got off to a hot start when he saw playing time with the Mets last September after Francisco Lindor suffered an injury. He hit three homers and posted a .966 OPS over 14 games.
It was not immediately clear who would be sent down to make room for Acuña. The Mets (53-39) play a split doubleheader with the Orioles (40-50) on Thursday.
