Can the South Siders get a win streak going?

Before discussing tonight’s game, I wanted to take a moment to share the news of Bobby Jenks’ passing. There is a story on the site now, with more to come later as the South Side Sox staff put together a tribute for a true White Sox legend.

Jenks will be missed by many, and fondly remembered for the person he was on and off the mound.

Since it feels trivial to write about anything else, I will keep this short.

Jonathan Cannon returns to the mound tonight. He is 2-7 with a lofty 4.59 ERA. Cannon often struggles in the first inning, so it will be interesting to see how he fares against a slightly less competitive team. Kyle Teel is back in the game tonight, while Miguel Vargas, Chase Meidroth and Andrew Benintendi will have the night off.

The theme of this series has been how evenly matched everything is. Pitching is no exception, as the Rockies will start Germán Márquez. With a 3-9 record, Márquez has struggled as well, and owns an ERA of 5.62 with 61 strikeouts.
