Mets Minors Recap: Winker Homers, Manaea Makes Start

0 0

Sean Manaea gave up three runs (two earned) in three innings for Double-A Binghamton and threw 39 of 60 pitches for strikes in his first rehab start since June 19. After that start, he said he had pain in his left elbow. An MRI showed loose bodies, he received a cortisone shot and was shut down from throwing for two to three days.

Jesse Winker, also playing for Binghamton, homered in his second rehab appearance. The 31-year-old suffered a right oblique strain against the Cardinals on May 4 while making his first start in the outfield of the season. Winker, who had made his previous 18 starts at designated hitter, said he felt a twinge while attempting to throw out a runner at home. He was slashing .239/.321/.418 with one homer and 10 RBIs in 78 plate appearances when he got hurt.
