More losses at home.

The Royals lose another home series.

“We’re in a rut,” Royals manager Matt Quatraro said. “Every team goes through something like this.

“This is prolonged for us, and we are not hiding from that. We need ... to stack wins together. And that’s why it’s disappointing today that we didn’t.”

Anne Rogers writes about the struggles playing at home.

“We love playing here,” manager Matt Quatraro said. “We haven’t played well here, that’s obvious, but it hasn’t been fun for us, it hasn’t been fun for our fans. We’re going to try to do everything we can for the fans that follow us on the road, who watch us on TV — we’re going to play better baseball. It doesn’t matter where we go.”

Seth Lugo was impressive in a win on Saturday.

“I think it’s really important to keep those guys off base,” Lugo said. “Those two, they get their whole lineup going, so if I can really bear down against the one-two in their lineup, we’ve got a pretty good shot at putting up zeros, and that’s what we did.”

Alec Marsh and Kyle Wright both suffer setbacks in recovery.

NLBM President Bob Kendrick laments the absence of Negro League throwback uniforms.

“The last two years they haven’t worn the uniforms,” Kendrick said. “I think it was a highly anticipated part of this celebration. The fans enjoy seeing the teams wear those uniforms. The players enjoyed wearing those uniforms. And of course, we know those game-worm uniforms would be auctioned with the proceeds coming back to benefit the museum. So in lieu of wearing the uniforms, both teams over the last couple of years have won commemorative caps.

“And they’ll auction those off and raise money for the museum as well. But it’s not quite the same. It’s not the pageantry, nor does it generate the same level of support that the uniforms would.”
