Guardians 4, Athletics 2: Luis Ortiz Throws A Gem

Luis Ortiz looks like a DUDE

The highlight of today’s game was the performance from Luis Ortiz. He has been up and down this season but he was truly phenomenal tonight. He threw six scoreless innings and had ten strikeouts to two walks. He only gave up two hits and you could argue that both of them should have been outs. The key with Ortiz is going to be consistency, but when he is on, he is my favorite Guardians pitcher to watch.

The top of the order had a great day today. Steven Kwan went 3-5 with a double, Kyle Manzardo went 2-5, and Jose Ramirez went 3-4 with a walk and a double. Bo Naylor and Johnathan Rodriguez also had huge RBI doubles.

Cade Smith and Hunter Gaddis didn’t have the greatest of outings, as they both gave up a run, but Emmanuel Clase looked really good as he recorded his 17th save.

The Guardians will look to take the series against the Athletics tomorrow at 4:10 pm ET. It will be Slade Cecconi vs JP Sears. The Guardians sure need this one, and so do I.
