Morning Briefing: Mark Vientos to Begin Rehab Assignment Next Week

According to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com, Mets infielder Mark Vientos will begin a rehab assignment for his right hamstring strain at Triple-A Syracuse early next week. Vientos has appeared in 53 games for the Mets this season, slashing .230/.298/.380/.678.
Vientos last appeared in a game on June 2.

On Saturday, the Mets suffered an 8-4 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays, securing a home series loss. Tylor Megill earned the starting nod and struggled, tossing only 3 2/3 innings while allowing six runs (three earned) on seven hits. He walked two batters and struck out five.
The Mets will try to salvage the final game of the series at 1:40 p.m. ET.
The Brooklyn Cyclones announced pitcher Sean Manaea will continue his rehab assignment and start for Brooklyn today. Manaea has not tossed an MLB inning yet this season as he continues to recover from an oblique injury suffered during spring training.
