Texas baseball snags a standout transfer
AUSTIN (KXAN) - The 2025 season was an impressive one for Texas baseball. Jim Schlossnagle guided the Longhorns to an SEC championship in his first year at the helm.
The eye toward 2026 moves quickly though, as transfers continue to go out and now come in. Kaleb Freeman announced on social media Saturday he is heading to Austin to join the Longhorns.
The veteran infielder comes to Texas by way of Georgia State. Freeman hit .349 last season with 16 home runs and 15 stolen bases.
Freeman will be on his fifth school when he plays next season with Texas. He started at North Georgia before going to St. John's River State. Freeman's last two years were at Auburn and Georgia State, respectively. All schools had the Georgia native for just one year.
Freeman was the 2025 Sun Belt Newcomer of the year and was on the all-conference second team. A versatile option, Freeman has also played catcher.
