Rays Minor League Roundup: Week 11
Ian Seymour made his big league debut
This week’s minor league roundup will only feature the numbers accumulated prior to the start of play on Wednesday.
This was the 11th week of minor league play.
According to FanGraphs (which factors in age and proximity to the big leagues), the overall top hitter in the Rays farm system has changed once again. 25-year old Tristan Peters continues to hold the top spot. The Rays originally acquired Peters from the Giants in a 40-man roster deadline deal following the 2022 season. Thus far in 2025, Peters is hitting .291/.377/.466 with 6 HR and 7 SB over 236 plate appearances, registering a 123 wRC+
Meanwhile, the top pitcher continues to be Ian Seymour. However, Seymour’s iron grip on the top spot may lapse now that the Rays have given him a call up to the big leagues. Seymour’s time on the Rays active roster may be brief as he will likely be optioned today after making his debut during Monday’s game, collecting his first big league win. His full season numbers are listed further below.

RUMBLINGS
- Ian Seymour received news he was being promoted to the big leagues during the 8th inning of a Durham Bulls game in Jacksonville on Saturday. He quickly got to share the news with his mother, who was at the game. Seymour’s mother would actually drive him to Tampa ahead of the Rays playing the Marlins on Sunday.
- Chandler Simpson had just the third 3 strikeout game of his career in his first game back with the Bulls after being optioned. Then on Sunday, Simpson had the first five hit game of his career.
- Andrew Lindsey, acquired from the Marlins after the 2023 season, started a rehab assignment after missing nearly all of the 2024 season
- According to Baseball America, two of the Rays top pitching prospects, Yoniel Curet and Santiago Suarez, are both expected back by the end of the month.
