Mets Minors Recap: Mauricio Knocking on Mets’ Door
Ronny Mauricio tallied another two hits today, leading Syracuse to a victory over the Iowa Cubs. The 24-year-old has been putting up phenomenal numbers since joining AAA, but the Mets organization is prioritizing his health above all else, said Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns. The other roadblock standing in Mauricio’s way is the emergence of Brett Baty as an everyday player who has taken the 3B job and run with it. Luisangel Acuña‘s .590 OPS makes him the weak link of the baby Mets and the most likely to earn a bus ticket back to Syracuse if Mauricio gets called up.

- C Matt O’Neill – 2-for-4, 2 RBI ( (.765 OPS)

Binghamton roared back with a three-run ninth, fueled by clutch RBI singles from Alex Ramírez and Matt O’Neill. The spark came earlier from Nick Lorusso, who jump-started the rally with a two-run single in the sixth. Ramírez has four hits in his last two games and sparked the Ponies’ win over the Baysox on Sunday.

- RHP Douglas Orellana 1.2 IP , 1 H , 3 K (1.29 ERA)
- RHP Cameron Foster 1.0 IP, 2 K (2.38 ERA)
Jordan Geber was masterful Sunday, tossing two scoreless innings while striking out four. Geber has posted back-to-back scoreless outings dating back to May 14. Douglas Orellana notched his first win of the season and struck out three in the process. It was Orellana’s fourth consecutive scoreless outing, dating back to May 18.

BOX SCORE
- C Chris Suero– 2-for 4, HR, 3 RBI (.856 OPS)

Chris Suero put Brooklyn on his back Sunday, as he hit his eighth homer of the season and hit a walk-off two-run single as the Cyclones beat the Ironbirds by a score of 4-3. If Suero can start hitting at a more consistent rate, he could punch his ticket to Binghamton by July or August. Carson Benge continued his hot hitting as he smacked a single.
- RHP Joel Díaz 4.2 IP, 2 ER, 6 H, 1 BB, 5 K (4.08 ERA)
- RHP Saul Garcia 1.0 IP, 1 K (1.29 ERA)
