Mets Minors Recap: Wenninger, Morabito Lead Double-A Binghamton
Double-A Binghamton continued rolling on Saturday, as they won their eighth-straight game and improved to 14-2 over their last 16 games. In their most recent win, starting pitcher Jack Wenninger was terrific on the mound, lowering his season ERA to 2.56. Meanwhile, at the dish, Nick Morabito led the way, with three hits, three runs batted in, and a stolen base. With the victory, Binghamton improves their Eastern League-best record to 32-17.

33-year-old veteran, Jon Singleton, led the way for the Mets, driving in three runs and raising his season OPS to an impressive .833. Luke Ritter, who struggled mightily to begin the season, had two hits and drove in a pair. Lastly, Ronny Mauricio, who is rehabbing from his knee injury, reached base twice, maintaining an absurd 1.421 Triple-A OPS.

The Mets’ No. 1 pitching prospect to begin the year struggled with command Saturday, walking five batters. He did limit that damage, by only allowing two runs which lowered his hefty Triple-A ERA to 6.02. Both Colin Poche and Grant Hartwig were strong in relief, posting scoreless outings, each lasting more than an inning.

Speedy outfielder Nick Morabito led the way for Binghamton offensively. He recorded hits in each of his first three at-bats, and also stole his 19th base of the season. Ryan Clifford, acquired in the Justin Verlander trade, was on base four times in the victory.

Right-handed starter Jack Wenninger continued his 2025 breakout with another terrific start on Saturday. He lowered his ERA to 2.56 thanks to a seven-strikeout performance. He led all Double-A pitchers on Saturday in generating swing-and-misses with a staggering 20.

The Brooklyn offense continued their magic on Saturday, as they tied the game with two in the eighth inning before catcher Ronald Hernandez walked it off via a solo home run in the ninth. A.J. Ewing led the Cyclones with three hits, and also stole three bases, increasing his season total between St. Lucie (Single-A) and Brooklyn to a massive 37.

- RHP Raimon Gomez: 0.2 IP, 1 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 1 SO (11.81 ERA)
Former 2023 seventh-round pick, Noah Hall, did well in not allowing a run across four innings. However, the 24-year-old walked five, which shortened his day to only four innings. Flamethrower Raimon Gomez, who recorded a 104.5 mph pitch earlier in the season, has struggled since his promotion to Brooklyn, as he allowed two runs in less than an inning. This increased his High-A ERA to 11.81 across 5 1/3 innings.

It was a very quiet day for the Florida State League’s East Division leaders offense. St. Lucie only managed three hits, but did walk six times. 24-year-old first baseman, Trace Willhoite, continued his strong season, reaching base twice, increasing his season OPS to .903. Former first-round pick, Colin Houck, did not record a hit, but walked three times.

It was a rare bad outing for 2024 seventh-round pick, Will Watson. He allowed five runs on four hits and two walks, but it only raised his season ERA to 3.66. Right-handed pitcher Luis Alvarez was by far St. Lucie’s best pitcher, throwing 2 2/3 perfect innings.
