Ronny Mauricio Produces for Syracuse

Ronny Mauricio recorded two hits on Sunday in his Syracuse debut. The 24-year-old out of the Dominican Republic is looking to get his stride going again after tearing his ACL in the winter of 2023 and could end up as a platoon option in Queens by the end of the year.

Lehigh Valley IronPigs (31-14) 8, Syracuse Mets (20-25) 6

Jared Young led the way with a 3-for-5 performance and four RBIs. Ronny Mauricio debuted with a 2-for-4 night, while Jon Singleton added a double and an RBI in a 1-for-5 showing.

Brandon Waddell had a rough outing, allowing six earned runs in just two-thirds of an inning. Sean Reid-Foley bounced back with two scoreless frames, striking out three, while Austin Warren added one and a third shutout innings with three punchouts.

Double-A

Binghamton Rumble Ponies (22-16) 5, Hartford Yard Goats (21-17) 4

Nick Morabito and Jett Williams each went 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI, continuing to spark the lineup from the top of the order. Ryan Clifford added a strong night of his own, going 2-for-3 with a double and driving in a run

Zach Thornton turned in a solid start, allowing two runs over five innings while striking out six. Ryan Lambert and TJ Shook followed with clean innings of relief, recording a pair of strikeouts to shut the door on a 5-4 win over the Yard Goats.

High-A

Winston-Salem Dash (12-27) 6, Brooklyn Cyclones (26-12) 7

Box Score

Carson Benge drove in four runs and reached base five times, finishing 2-for-3 with a double and 2 walks. A.J. Ewing continued his hot start in Brooklyn, going 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI.

St. Lucie Mets (21-18) 9, Daytona Tortugas (17-22) 7

Corey Collins reached base four times, going 1-for-2 with a double, two RBIs, and three walks in a standout performance. Simon Juan and Yonatan Henriquez each chipped in with a hit and combined for three RBIs to help round out the offense.

Edgar Moreta struck out four over two innings but gave up two earned runs on four hits. Cristofer Gomez and Hoss Brewer followed with 2.2 combined scoreless innings, each recording a pair of strikeouts to steady the bullpen.
