Game Thread: White Sox at Reds
Lunchtime game in Cincinnati
The White Sox will be going for a series sweep (bet you didn’t expect to read that any time this year) and trying to win five-of-six (bet even more you never expected to reads that) as they take on the Reds on a great day for baseball at Great American Ballpark.
Bryse Wilson, who has a 4.88 ERA but had a good game against the Marlins last time out, will be doing the tossing for the Sox. Wilson is opposed by 34-year-old righty Nick Martinez, who has had a solid year (4.23 ERA, 3.35 FIP) but last time out gave up 10 hits to the Astros despite getting a minimum quality start of three runs in six innings.
Martinez will face a Sox lineup that is without newcomer Tim Elko, instead moving Lenyn Sosa to first while Andrew Vaughn is the DH, and putting Jacob Amaya at short, providing better D but less O.
Wilson will face a Reds lineup that has pretty much decided to take the month of May off, with just one or two exceptions.
First pitch is scheduled for 11:40 a.m. (that’s right, a.m.) Central, with the temp 78° to start and moving into the low 80s and light wind from right to left. Usual broadcast suspects.
