For Double-A Binghamton, Zach Thornton threw a career-long seven shutout innings in the Rumble Ponies’ extra-innings loss to the Hartford Yard Goats. The left-hander was efficient, needing just 76 pitches to strike out six Yard Goats while allowing only three hits. Syracuse Mets utility man Jared Young homered twice, giving him four over his last three games.

Dom Hamel made his first appearance out of the bullpen on Tuesday, allowing one run on one hit over 1.2 innings. Recently signed Colin Poche made his second relief outing for Syracuse, where he struggled mightily, recording just one out while allowing three walks, one hit, and two earned runs.

Double A

Binghamton Rumble Ponies 0 (18-14), Hartford Yard Goats (18-23) 1 Final In 11 Innings

BOX SCORE

The Binghamton Rumble Ponies dropped Tuesday’s matchup against the Hartford Yard Goat 1-0. Offense was at a premium Tuesday night, with both teams combining to have 5 hits through the first 10 innings of the ball game.

Coming off his worst outings since being promoted to Double-A Binghamton, Zach Thornton delivered one of the best performances of his professional career. The 23-year-old southpaw tossed seven shutout innings, allowing just three hits and no walks. Newly promoted Anthony Nunez also tossed a scoreless inning in his first Binghamton appearance. MMN covered his amazing story in a recent article. Ross hit 102 mph in his Double-A debut.

High A

Brooklyn Cyclones (21-12) 7, Winston-Salem Dash (12-22) 2

BOX SCORE

Brooklyn’s bats carried them to another victory, beating Winston-Salem 7–2 at Maimonides Park in Coney Island. Eight of the nine Cyclones hitters recorded a hit, with Jacob Reimer, Eli Serrano, A.J. Ewing, and Carson Benge all collecting extra-base hits. Serrano reached base four times, raising his season OPS to .908 – second on the team behind Reimer. The Cyclones have four of the league’s top 10 hitters.

2024 draftee Brendan Girton was dominant over five innings on Tuesday, striking out nine and allowing just one hit. It was the best performance of the season for the Oklahoma University product, who had surrendered at least one earned run in each of his previous seven outings.

Low-A

St Lucie Mets (17-17) 9 Daytona Beach Tortugas (16-18) 11

BOX SCORE

The St. Lucie Mets couldn’t complete their late comeback, falling 11–9 to the Daytona Beach Tortugas. After trailing 6–0 by the third inning, the Mets rallied for seven runs in the eighth and ninth to tie the game at 9. But the Tortugas answered with two runs in the bottom of the eighth, and the Mets’ offense ran out of steam.

Colin Houck launched his fourth home run of the season, continuing an impressive May in which he’s slashed .294/.419/.529 (.948 OPS).

The St. Lucie pitching staff struggled throughout Tuesday’s game. Mets starter Edgar Moreta allowed six runs on three hits, while Ernesto Mercedes gave up the winning runs in the eighth inning, allowing Daytona Beach to secure the win.
