Bullpen proves to be futile as Rays lose their 10th home game in their last 11

The Rays had tonight’s contest as good as sealed against the Phillies — until it wasn’t.

With what became a four run lead going into the eighth inning by way of a three-run Yandy Diaz opposite field home run, the freight train to Fairbanks had been initiated.

Edwin Uceta came on as the setup man to face the bottom of the Phillies order. What transpired was the 7-9 hitters all reaching base, and a Bryson Stott three-run homer to pull Philadelphia within one run.

Fairbanks would enter in the ninth and give up a lead off single to Kyle Schwarber, which would turn into pinch runner Johan Rojas advancing to third base on an errant pickoff throw.

Max Kepler supplied the game tying RBI groundout, and we would head to extras.

Brandon Marsh doubled in the ghost runner to start the 10th, and Trea Turner would single in Marsh to push the score to 7-5.

Danny Jansen would single in Brandon Lowe in the bottom half, and the Rays would go on to lost their 10th home game in their last 11 chances.

Zack Littell starts opposite left handed Jose Quintana, as the Milwaukee Brewers make their way to Trop East for a three game set starting Friday night at 7:05 EST.
